Hello OFU! I was instructed to post something on this forum since this is where most of you guys are.
Now I must be brief, since I gotta go run and work out here (prepping for a lot of running).
Anyhow, Frenchie and I who are the CO and XO of the French and I both agree we really want to have you guys on board for ION 2010. Now, for a first time to ION (which I understand it would be for a vast majority of you?) Playing French the first time is kind of different.
I can answer any questions you guys have as well as inform you of some of the skirmish happenings that go down up in the Good Old Commonwealth of PA.
Playing French is going to have some of you role playing quite a bit while also a good portion of the time shooting the crap out of special individuals.
ION is an amazing game, and although I understand many people are against it for a number of reasons, in my nine years of attending the game I can tell you that it is the safest, best reffed, and most organized it has EVER been. With a 4,000 player game, yeah t here is cheating. But so is there in a 40 player game. It happens. Things have changed, and for the better.
If ANY of you have any questions ask here or please feel free to call me: 610-506-8419

Grazi, I didn't have the pleasure of meeting you at onslaught man. Saw you in Oxy's video though, so I have an idea of who you are. If we do go, could you save a role playing spot for me? I'd love to try that if my team lets me. Thanks man. Only reserve me the spot when we have a vonfirmed anwser though, I don't wanna screw anybody out of a character. Thanks.

No problem! Well the the thing is at ION you make your own role essentially...Think it up, attach it to the storyline and run with it! We always find a way to work in new and exciting characters! And what video? I haven't the one you are referring to. Link?

www.youtube.com/oxyfydeTheres part one and two, your in part one with me. Are there official roles for this game or is every role made up by the players?

The French don't have any official "game" roles. As the third entity you get to make your own roles for the storyline. With that we then work them into the storyline.
Now there will be time where we will need people to be say the banker or the baker or something else somewhere on the field. We will have clothing and things to dress you in or if you just want to make up your role right there that can be done as well.
Since we are helping to organize SOME of the missions we get reign to mess with them a bit. Something like, German troops need to meet and negotiate with French mayor at The Hood... or the civilian Pilot at the Airfield, ect.
If you have an idea, tell us!

A mad scientist with the ability to make "Zombies" or something to that affect would be cool. (Something like, when the scientist shoots an enemy, they then have to put on green tape and shoot at their own team until they are shot again or something like that.) Tat would be hard to swing, but if made possible, could be sweet as hell.

You need to talk to JPazz with the G-Force games, we did "The Thing" and we had a game called: "The Phantom Panic" Where the XO's (as in me) and a few others were actually the phantoms and part of each side all at the same time... THAT SCREWED with people's minds...
Yeah Don't think we can go that far with the idea's guys lol but keep throwing things at us.

Maquis du Vercors- en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Free_Republic_of_Vercors#Republic_of_VercorsBasic Idea, is at one of the bird bangers (Mind you Im not sure exactly how the French Spawn in, and if they have a CP ect.. ect...) The French Start out in a town like area (Depending on how many French you will have maybe cap the amount that can start there at a certain number), and basically have to defend. French Mission: Type: Defend Location: City Like Area (Closer to the German Lines) Duration: 2 hours Special Notes: Points will be awarded every 10 (15?) minutes based on how long the "Citizens of Vercors", can hold off the German Assault. German Mission Type: Assault Location: City Like Area (Like Above) Duration: 2 hours Special Notes: Points counter will start at 120 (Mind you I do not know point durations at ION), for every 10 (15?) minutes the Germans fail to take the town, they will lose 10 more points. Allied Mission Type: Relay Information Location: City Like Area Duration 2 hours Special Notes: Get a "Radio" to the Citizens of Vercors, this will allow De-Gualle to issue his famous "The Chamois of the Alps leaps forward" Speech This will create a temporary spawn point in the center of Vercors, that will allow the French to re-spawn for the duration of this mission. (By encouraging more citizens to revolt) For Germans To Destroy this spawn, they must Tag the spawn, or hit it with a L.A.W launcher. I will likely come up with more later, I love missions based of of historical precedence. Allied Mission -Alternative. Type: Re-enforce Location: City Like Area Players needed: 10 (Mind you this would be much closer to german lines) Duration: 2 hours Special Notes: Re-enforce the citizens of Vercors.

Well there are a lot of things Frenchie and I will have to inform you guys about Skirmish.
First off the French play a 3rd entity. We are never just supporting one side all the time. Read this part of my post that I used in the initial ION thread that just got closed at PBN 3 days ago because it hit 2,000 posts. We, the French, had to make an official announcement, this was it.
"I can speak for our commander Frenchie when it comes to the following: We choose no one side. It goes without saying that since our country is currently under the jackboot, that many have swayed their allegiance to either the Allies or the Axis. Where as others have remained neutral. My commander and I cannot sway all of our people, many of them have lost loved ones due to this war. We have just tried to live our lives out to the fullest these last few years... But we remember everything, and we see EVERYTHING. No action will go unnoticed, unreported, or without consequence or reward. An intelligent commander will ponder the value of our knowledge of our own homeland. For we know it better than any German or Allied solider that sets foot here.
The Germans and the Allies must choose how they act towards our great nation and its people. What these commanders must learn, and learn fast, is that a civilian population rarely only supports one side in a conflict of this magnitude.
Generals, officers, and soldiers of the Allied and Axis forces: We, the French are but humble civilians in a time of war, attempting to survive and live our lives. We can provide you with many things, but you must answer our questions and keep us calm. Remember however, and remember this WELL - The French people do not all share the same opinions of the Germans or Allies, and the reason for that is because we are listening to every word and watch every action you make.
We are neither your friend nor your foe. We are however, what you make us.
- G"
Now Kouza, these missions are neat! However knowing how skirmish works parts of it would not roll well, (Launchers, spawn of that sort) But everything else, slightly modified of course could be done. I'll pass it along.
The thing that is different this year than any other year the French were implemented at ION, is the fact that instead of us acting like a group of 75 guns for hire when we want to. We instead will be more individualistic, as the post above states every Frenchman and woman has their own allegiances for certain reasons. THIS ALSO means that at some point some serious role playing / acting will take place; the French resistance may fire on some Pro-German french who are trying to help some Germans in a mission. Then again they may not...
As for Maquis, that role is already taken... I would love to tell you who he is but I am not allowed to just yet (but he knows what he is doing and he is one of the best role players we know). Great guy!
Beyond those brief things (sorry I am tired, just graduated and came back from bar)...
I have a slew of more info. Again it is hard for me to convay everything over this forum. The French are going to be an interesting hodgepodge this year. We will be doing plenty of role playing, but I promise you we will also make sure the Allies and Germans fear our guns. We know how to hit both sides where it hurts...
And have a ridiculously funny time doing it... Think Monty Python, Trojan Bunnys, Trebushay launched stuffed animals at the Allies when they hit the beach, "The French Games," and much much more.
One last thing: Once you guys do work everything out, make sure to Register soon! VERY soon! When you do you will need a password, Corndog PM incoming of what it is.
